What to expect from a regular support worker
If you have only worked with agencies before, here is what a steady, regular support worker actually looks like week to week.
When people first move from agency or marketplace work to a regular support worker, the biggest shift is predictability. The same person turns up at the same time each week. They know how you take your coffee, which checkout you prefer, and which appointments cause stress.
That predictability is not a small thing. A lot of participants spend mental energy each week briefing a new worker on the basics. With a regular support worker, that energy goes back into the day itself.
A regular support worker is also accountable in a way that marketplace bookings often cannot be. If something is not working, there is one person to talk to, and there is room to adjust.
If you have been juggling Mable or agency bookings and are tired of starting over each time, that is a sign you are ready for a regular arrangement.
